Marty’s Update
Hiiii everyone,
I wanted to take a lil sec to re-introduce myself as things have gotten pretty faceless recently. I’d rather this newsletter feel more personal than just a list of links. And if you don’t mind, I’ll give you occasional updates on what I’m working on and thinking about.
Soooo I’m Marty, I’m from a little town in the Highlands of Scotland called Beauly. I’ve lived in Edinburgh, Barcelona, a tiny beach town in the Dominican Republic and now I’m based in Lisbon, Portugal.
I’ve founded and co-founded a bunch of stuff. A chat room for teenagers who loved art when I was 13, a collective of young photographers when I was 15, definitely-illegal camping parties in the woods in Scotland when I was 16, an events company at 18, a sunglasses company (Tens), an ultra-summer music website & app (Poolsuite), a finance/tech company (Nude) and a sunscreen company (Vacation). And I feel like I’m just getting started. I’ve taken a lot of time away from my computer recently, mapping out the organisation of my dreams, something I’ll work on for the next 50 years. And this newsletter & community will be at the very centre of it. An organisation that anyone can be a part of contributing to, that can accomplish grand & eccentric ideas by pooling the resources of thousands of people together.
My #1 mission right now is arranging the appropriate structure & funding to crowdfund the acquisition of a manor estate, a place where we, the Poolsuite community, can spend time discussing, planning & building the kinds of things you read about in this newsletter, by the pool, banana daiquiri in hand. If you happen to have a wealth of knowledge in the manor-acquisition business, please do drop me an email.
We’re also wrapping up our redesign of Poolsuite FM and pushing it into development – I can’t wait for you to see it.
