I recently discovered The Rochambeau Club, it’s a private members club in Provence, France and couldn’t believe how similar the aesthetic was to Poolsuite. I’d love to see some sort of collab, I’m hoping to visit the club this summer while I’m in the area so I’ll definitely mention you guys to them.
Anyway, kind of off topic but just wanted to share this club with you all in the spirit of discovering ways to live a leisurely life!
I've been teaching myself how to play electric bass, and I've found that hours fly by as soon as I put my headphones on. While I'm quite literally connected to an amp, I'm able to disconnect from everything else around me while I cruise in a flow state.
• I like to go on airplane mode on walks while listening to downloaded albums
Banger playlist, I'm dancing around my apartment. Also thanks for sharing the Steve Jobs archive, been sharing tidbits on Twitter (https://twitter.com/iamjasonlevin
Latergram! I took IG off my phone but have it on my iPad. I'll take pics and do a "dump" once in a while. I am also making collages of my photos from a recent trip to Portugal. It really makes me sit and think about different aspects of the trip and share true highlights.
I go to writer's retreat to disconnect from people and internet for 10 days every year to focus on writing and reading. I also do meditation and yoga retreat annually as a digital detox to keep me stay closer with people and nature and myself!
I self-organise my own :) Usually in some rural area a couple of hours away from where I live. I'm going to do one in Portugal or England in summer/fall. Feel free to join if you like haha. The info will be shared in my newsletter.
I place my only SIM card in a dumb Nokia phone and use an Olivetti Lettera Typewriter for writing. If I suddenly need to connect, my phone can Hotspot internet. It's the unexpected mix of different eras of technology that I love. Barely anione has lived like this.
Don‘t think I can disconnect when having a internet connection, the only way that kinda works is reading long form essays and going down a rabbit hole aka actively using the web for exploration and curation instead of pure consumption.
I shared some ideas and tips for "digital minimalism" in a previous newsletter entry! https://surfista.substack.com/p/008-underneath-aesthetics
I threw this together in like 5 mins, just ideas for a collab

@carl any ideas on how we make it happen
Beautiful & hilarious 😂
This is awesome. We need a Soho house equivalent for Poolsuite 😎

The writers retreat sounds so up my alley. Would you be willing to share which one it is?

Two things to help me disconnect while being connected:
• Breathwork by Othership (https://www.othership.us/app)
• Curated Spotify playlists by Aesop (my go-to is ‘Music for the Task at Hand’)
P.S Loved the Neil Krug feature and Steve Jobs Archive share!
Thanks so much for these Warren, and glad you loved this feature. There's always more to learn about Steve Jobs too!
